Tune your Threads algorithm

Threads does not offer a permanent full reset. Your Algo can temporarily ask for more or less of a topic, while Following or a custom feed gives you a steadier fallback.

Your Algo, where available

  1. Open the menu, then Your Algo. Official Threads destination (opens in a new tab)

  2. Name a topic for more or less.

  3. Choose one, three, or seven days.

  4. Review or remove active requests.

Stable fallback

  1. Open the feed picker.

  2. Choose Following or a custom feed. Official Threads destination (opens in a new tab)

  3. Set it as default, if available.

What changes

  • Your Algo temporarily increases or reduces recommendations about the topic you describe.
  • Following and custom feeds let you choose a narrower source set.

What stays

  • Your Threads account, posts, replies, followers, and followed accounts
  • The underlying recommendation history after a temporary request expires
  • Other topics you did not ask Your Algo to change

Can’t find the control?

  • The control is region and account dependent. Use Following or a custom feed instead.
  • Use Not interested from a post menu and unfollow recurring sources that send poor signals.

  • Start with one clear less-of request instead of a long list of topics.
  • Use Following or a focused custom feed while the temporary adjustment is active.
  • Choose Not interested on unwanted recommendations without opening the full thread.

Threads questions

Is Your Algo a permanent Threads reset?

No. Meta says topic requests last one, three, or seven days. It is a temporary steering control, not a deletion of all recommendation history.

Why can’t I see Your Algo?

Meta documents regional availability in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand. Your account may not have the control yet.

Can I avoid For You on Threads?

You can use Following or a custom feed, and Meta says eligible accounts can make a custom feed the default.
