Turn off Reddit Home recommendations

Reddit does not need a reset if your goal is a feed made from communities you chose. Turn off home feed recommendations, then leave or mute communities that no longer belong there.

Can’t find the control?

Update the Reddit app or use reddit.com/settings/preferences in a browser.
Switch Home to Latest when you want a more chronological view of joined communities.

Leave or mute communities that reliably send you somewhere you do not want to go.
Join a few focused communities that support what you are building.
Use Show fewer posts like this when an unwanted recommendation slips through.

Reddit questions

Will turning off Reddit recommendations remove joined communities?

No. It stops recommended community posts in Home. Communities you joined remain until you leave them.

Can I still use Reddit search and Popular?

Yes. The setting is for Home feed recommendations. You can still choose other discovery surfaces.

Is this the same as clearing Reddit history?

No. The stronger control is turning off Home recommendations. Clearing local history alone does not promise a recommendation reset.
