Reset your TikTok For You feed

TikTok has a real reset. Refresh your For You feed makes recommendations behave more like a new account, then your next interactions shape what returns.

The platform provides a control that clears the recommendation profile for its main discovery surfaces.

Labels can vary slightly by device and account. If this path is absent, use the fallback below.

TikTok app

  1. Open Profile, then the menu.

  2. Tap Settings and privacy.

  3. Tap Content preferences.

  4. Tap Refresh your For You feed. Official TikTok destination (opens in a new tab)
  5. Tap Continue, then Refresh.

What changes

  • Recommendations in the For You feed start over.
  • Your next watches, skips, searches, likes, and follows become the strongest new signals.

What stays

  • Accounts you follow and your followers
  • Your profile, posts, messages, and account settings
  • Other TikTok surfaces that are not the For You feed

Can’t find the control?

  • Update TikTok, close and reopen the app, then check Content preferences again.
  • Use Not interested on unwanted videos and avoid lingering on them while the control reaches your account.

Rebuild from here

  • Search for two or three topics you genuinely want more of.
  • Watch a few useful videos through, save the best ones, and follow selectively.
  • Skip unwanted videos quickly. Use Not interested when a theme repeats.

TikTok questions

Does refreshing TikTok delete my account or drafts?

No. TikTok says the refresh affects the For You feed. It does not change your profile, following list, inbox, or account settings.

Can I undo a TikTok feed refresh?

No. Once confirmed, the refresh cannot be undone. Your feed begins learning again from what you do next.

Why did old topics come back?

A reset is a clean starting point, not a permanent filter. Watching, searching for, or repeatedly opening an old topic teaches TikTok that it is relevant again.
